She has a beautiful voice– unfortunately,the song is forgettable. It doesn’t rise to the guilty pleasure glory “I kissed a girl” (the Katy Perry or Jill Sobule version)
“If I were a boy” is at once Beyonce singing from the perspective of a woman with a cheating,jealous boyfriend, with her closing “you’re just a boy” and as a woman fantasizing about how she’d care about her lady. It’s got a simmering sapphic undercurrent. If Beyonce were a boy,she’d be quite a man!
